When it’s time to buy baby bedding it can get a bit confusing as to what items are the right ones. There are so many choices and with the tons of advertisings in baby magazines, one can be left a little perplexed.The most important things to remember are the baby’s safety and of course, comfort.
Get the crib and mattress first because sizes vary depending on the crib style you get and you want to get the right size sheets to fit the mattress. Also get a mattress that fits snuggly in the crib, this prevents any gaps where your baby could get caught in.
These are some helpful tips when you pick bedding for your baby:
• Make sure to get sheets that are fitted and also to get the right size for the mattress you picked. If the sheet is too small, obviously it won’t fit over the mattress and if they are too large they will bunch up and this can be a dangerous suffocation risk. Start with two or three sets of
• Get bumpers that are certified safe and that attach securely onto the crib so that they can’t come loose. If they were to come off they also could pose a suffocation risk.
• Get a waterproof cover for the mattress for the inevitable accidents that are bound to happen… diapers tend to leak occasionally and more so when baby starts sleeping longer hours.
• As far as colors go, if you want to stay within range of the nursery tones, pick neutral shades that will intermix and that will match the overall décor of the nursery.
