February 3, 2006, Newsletter Issue #3: How do you determine a pregnancy based on your menstrual cycle?

Tip of the Week

Most of the time, a pregnancy is indicated by a missed period. However, some spotting or bleeding can occur with the implantation of a fertilized egg into the uterine wall very early in a pregnancy. This bleeding is usually lighter than a normal menstrual period, but it can be confused with menstrual blood. A home pregnancy test can detect a pregnancy around the time of your expected period, and a blood test performed by a doctor can give you an answer even sooner.
