Tip of the Week

Buying baby furniture can be an expensive venture but it doesn't have to completely burst your budget. The trick is to plan ahead. For the typical baby room, starting from scratch, new parents can expect to spend from $200 to $1000 plus. For a tighter budget, try these tips to lighten your load: Put items you need on a wish list to give to shower attendees or family and friends who would like to purchase something for you and baby. Put the word out, as many families with older children are happy to pass on large baby items to new families for free. Buy second-hand items to keep costs down (make sure that the products you're purchasing are safe for baby's use by checking the condition and www.cpsc.gov) Look in discount stores and outlet malls.Shop online and easily compare prices (some online stores even offer free shipping when a certain threshold of spending is met).

Essentially, you can furnish your baby's nursery for next to nothing if you get your ducks in a row ahead of time.
