Baby Cradles

For many, the baby's cradle is the first sleeping environment the baby experiences once home. It is important while choosing a cradle, that it is both safe for the baby and user friendly for the parents. Notable issues to consider are:

  • Where will you locate the cradle in your home? Be sure that the cradle you buy will fit the space with surrounding room to rock, take pictures, and easily pick up your baby.
  • The height of cradles vary greatly, think ahead how you will use your baby's cradle. If next to the parent's bed, find the appropriate height to effortlessly remove your baby while on your bed. If you have other children or pets in the home, the height should be elevated, preventing the baby from being disrupted.
  • Review how deep the mattress is within the baby cradle itself. The cradle sides need to be high enough that your baby could not accidentally roll out.
  • Baby cradles are only utilized for a short time, normally the first couple of months of life. Once your baby becomes active, the cradle will not properly contain him or her. Be sure to check the manufactures instructions regarding the weight and age range of use.

*Baby cradles are not a necessity, but succeed as an extra resting place in the family room or as a small sleeping cocoon by the parent's bed.
