April 13, 2007, Newsletter Issue #61: High Chairs

Tip of the Week

Oh, that messy baby! Don't you know that the second you plop food down on the high chair tray it's going to get everywhere (especially when he's learning to use utensils). Babies enjoy the sensations of their environment including the texture of food. Avoid becoming frustrated, but you do not have to give in either. To get more food to stay on the spoon, try providing thicker foods like pudding, as the consistency will help the food to stick. Also, resist placing too much food in front of your child at one time, as this only encourages the play concept. Smaller thicker portions are the way to go for containing that mess!
