February 23, 2007, Newsletter Issue #54: Baby Toys for Ages 8 - 12 Months

Tip of the Week

As your baby continues to grow and develop, he will become increasingly curious about the world in which he lives. By the age of 8 -12 months, babies are crawling, walking and generally more independent of mom and dad. Wonderful baby toys for this age group include:Baby board books created out of sturdy cardboard with themes related to animals, trucks, toys and people. Plastic toy versions of household items such as key rings or phones. Sturdy toys made out of cloth like dolls, animals and even cars. Pop-up boxes and other cause and effect toys. Containers to fill and empty. Stackable toys like blocks in larger sizes.Bath toys for indoor water play. Push-pull toys like walking animals or plastic ball poppers.

This age group is particularly fun to observe as they go through their discovery stage. Remember to invest in toys that stimulate the mind, but meet safety standards as well.
